Leader – Studio Mittens

For several years, I worked as a freelance animator and illustrator under the name Studio Mittens. When I created a new visual identity for my website and social channels, I designed the image of a floating tree. A tree that wants to move and settle somewhere else, but is always held back by a heavy chain.

The idea originally came from an animation film concept for which I wrote the script, but which was unfortunately never produced. And although I’d love to say it had some deep or personal meaning, it was mostly just a strong visual idea. The composition felt right, the typography worked well, and the whole image simply made sense to me.

Since I also worked as an animator, a moving version of the design was a natural addition. Special thanks to Anthony Dunstan for his wonderful music composition for the leader! He gave it exactly the atmosphere I was looking for.
